The Challenges Include:

  1. Identifying root causes of crime
  2. Building community partnerships
  3. Finding collaborative solutions

Overcoming These Challenges Requires Us To:

  1. Build two-way trust between Aboriginal communities and the organizations that serve them
  2. Explore middle roads for policing and justice, which recognize and legitimize both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal methods and institutions
  3. Find an effective starting point from which we can develop a comprehensive approach that attacks all the root causes of crime in Aboriginal communities
  4. Tackle the underpinnings that lead to criminal activity among Aboriginal youth
